first_imgINZELL, Germany – Keiichiro Nagashima shared second place in the men’s 500 meters at a World Cup meet Sunday for his second podium finish in as many days. Nagashima and Mike Ireland of Canada skated in the same pairing and clocked an identical time of 35.70 seconds, 0.35 behind Canadian winner Jeremy Wotherspoon, at an outdoor rink in Inzell, Germany. “It’s encouraging that I started on the inside lane and took second place. I was trailing behind him (Ireland) a little bit, so I stretched out my foot at the finish line,” said Nagashima, who prefers to start on the outside lane. His second-place finish came a day after he finished third in the same distance behind winner Joji Kato. IN FIVE EASY PIECES WITH TAKE 5 GET THE BEST OF THE JAPAN TIMESlast_img
