Tourlestrane survive DRP scare to reach semi-finals

first_imgDefending champions Tourlestrane are through to the Belry Sligo senior football championship semi-finals – but only after surviving a scare from a gallant Drumcliffe/Rosses Point side at Scarden in Saturday evening’s quarter-final.Tourlestrane won in the end on a final scoreline of 2-9 to 1-6.The holders were pushed all the way by the north Sligo side in wet and windy conditions.Drumcliffe/Rosses Point led 1-3 to 0-3 in a low-scoring first half with Cian Lally finding the net for DRP and Tourlestrane guilty of a succession of first half wides despite a good spell of possession in the opening quarter.However, a couple of key substitutions and two second-half goals helped turn the contest the holders way.The result was in doubt right up to the end of normal time with just two points between the teams.
